Carla Bessa is a native voice talent for Brazilian Portuguese. Born in Rio de Janeiro, she now lives in Berlin. Carla studied acting at the House of Arts in Rio de Janeiro and at the University of Theater Rio (Unirio). She gained her first theatrical experience with her own company as well as directing various workshops. After moving to Germany, Carla performed as a protagonist in various productions, e.g. the Mousonturm in Frankfurt am Main, the Comedia Opera Instabile in Munich, the "New Theater Munich", the Carrousel Theater Berlin, at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin, as well as in Austria at the Forum Stadtpark Theater Graz and the Ensemble für Musik und Theater Salzburg. Carla is also active as a literary translator, for Max Frisch, Christa Wolf and Ingeborg Bachman among others and as an author. She published a novella (2021) and two collections of stories (2017 and 2019), the last one, "Urubus" (Vulture), was awarded with Brazil's two most important literary prizes in 2020. Carla is also a voice talent for Brazilian Portuguese since 2004 for voice-overs, corporate films, commercials and dubbing and now also in German.
