Markus is a German-Austrian actor and voice talent. Born in Oberndorf near Salzbug, He grew up in the rather idyllic Berchtesgadener Land – a place with plenty of Kaiserschmarrn, stunning nature and crystal-clear mountain lakes, but not exactly an abundance of theatre. After briefly considering a career in photography, he took a sharp turn instead and somehow ended up in Cologne. Four years and a degree in acting later, he became a permanent ensemble member at Schauspielhaus Bonn for several years. Following a nomination for Best Actor (yay!), he felt ready to move on and discovered working behind the microphone – love at first sight, and above all, incredibly varied: matching the performances of other actors in dubbing, narrating gripping, funny or romantic stories in audiobooks, shedding light on global political and social topics on the radio, or exploring the beauty of Ulaanbaatar in documentaries (that’s the capital of…?). And then: another sharp turn – this time to Vienna. For love? Who knows… Cologne is still very much part of his life. He continues to perform on stage there and brings stories of the best Kaiserschmarrn into the studio. And for the train rides between the two cities, there’s always another audiobook waiting to be prepared. Oh, and by the way: he did end up becoming a photographer after all. Why choose?
