Jeff is an American voice talent, actor, and dubbing director. Straight out of Staten Island, New York. His passion for stage and language took root early, starting at the High School of Performing Arts in New York. Later, he headed to Oberlin College in Ohio to study German Studies — partly fueled by a fascination with Bertolt Brecht. That fascination led him, in 1989, to take a bold step: applying for a Fulbright Scholarship to study in East Germany — yes, right before the Wall came down. In 1990, Jeff made the move from Oberlin (Ohio) to “O-Berlin,” as it was commonly written on letters to East Berlin at the time, and dove headfirst into the vibrant theater scene at the prestigious Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts during Germany’s reunification era. From there, his journey took him across international film sets, German stages, and countless recording studios. Jeff has worked with directors like Lars von Trier, Roman Polanski, and Christian Petzold. One of his most cherished roles was the award-winning lead in the film “Robin,” which even took him to festivals in Sydney. But Jeff’s second great love is his voice. He’s known for his work in animated series, audiobooks, commercials, and feature films — for example, as the voice of MacSmurf in “The Smurfs” or Geoff in Michael Haneke’s “Love.” He is also a regular voice for Deutsche Welle TV and has performed as a narrator with orchestras, including Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic in "Porgy & Bess". Beyond the mic, he directs English dubbing, writes dialogue adaptations, and loves coaching actors with sensitivity and humor until every nuance shines through. When he’s not behind the mic or on stage, you’ll find Jeff hiking in the mountains, working on a house renovation project in Brandenburg with his toolbox, or cheering on “almost every” Bundesliga team in the stadium. And by the way: While Staten Island was once known as “the Forgotten Borough,” “Gilligan’s Island,” or even worse — “where we dump our trash” — Jeff now proudly embraces his roots there. Partly because his father and grandfather were born there, but also as a reminder that every journey is full of surprises.
